A GATE, A TAXI RANK, AND GOD’S PROVISION!

It began with a few food parcels at the gate of my home in Wilgeheuwel, destined for a homeless woman in Florida, 12 kilometers away. She had heard about me through another homeless person. Since she didn’t have a phone, it was difficult to coordinate deliveries. Eventually, she borrowed someone’s phone and arranged to meet me at a supermarket in Florida.

I discovered she was sleeping at a taxi rank near a friend of mine. I arranged for her to collect food parcels from my friend, who lived close by. My friend, full of compassion, gladly agreed and began distributing the parcels.

Then she asked, “Can I cook for the homeless in my area?” Moved by her kindness, I began supplying ingredients. What started with eight people on the first Saturday has now grown to feeding fifty. I even had to purchase a 50-liter pot to support the growing need. And just like that—a new ministry was born

This journey has changed me. I used to judge the homeless—I thought they were all addicts. However, after two months of serving food parcels alongside Rob, I’ve witnessed their humility, love, and gratitude. Toothless smiles, warm hugs, and the way they light up when we say “Jesus”… it’s overwhelming. You helped me see them as God sees them. Thank you.
