THE WORLD CUP IS HERE!!!

Few events capture the world's attention like the World Cup does every four years. The 2006 final attracted an estimated television audience of 715 million, and the entire process, including qualifying and elimination rounds, a total of over 26 billion—the equivalent of nearly four views for every person in the world. Even those who normally pay little or no attention to sports are drawn in when Cup results are front-page news.

The World Cup fever has spread over the world, fans display flags and don outfits to proclaim their hopes, last-minute tickets are sold the Playing2win teams from Family Care Ministries is ready to meet the masses! Boxes of precious and powerful content—thousands of Activated magazines, “The Good Times” youth newspapers and the “Playing2win tracts—have been unpacked, divided, and prepared for distribution!

On Saturday we had a World Cup meeting with our teams from Soweto & Orange Farm. Everyone was excited as we discussed ways and places to distribute the Activated magazines and tracts.

We couldn’t wait and on Sunday Talitha and I were at the official Fifa Fan park in Soweto the  Elkah Stadium. It can hold up to 40.000 people and has food and drinks. No entrance fee and all are welcome. We passed out the tracts with the question “would you like to get to know our coach or “this is a message from our coach” and their curiosity was instantly aroused.  As soon as they saw “Coach Jesus” on our tracts they were all smiles and we were able to talk about the Coach for Life, their life and favorite team.

As the streets and stadiums fill with enthusiasts of many nations, the Playing2win teams not only from Family Care Ministries but also from the Family International aim to fill both hands and hearts with something lasting; far beyond the duration of the games! Their World Cup “goal” is to reach as many as possible; introducing them to the Coach of the ultimate winning team—Jesus!

The Playing2win teams will have a presence each day of the World Cup games, and are looking forward to meeting, speaking to, befriending, and distributing to the local fans as well as the overseas arrivals!  Look for playing2win volunteers at the fan parks, fan mile, and stadiums.

         See you there!
