July 21,10 Second brush with deathjosef, 21/07/2010 09:37, Views: 43
Josef sustained a head injury This is a testimony of the mighty protection of the Lord and my second involvement with a serious accident in a little more than three month. My first one was traveling with with a taxi that overturned four times as reported on April 06,2010. On Monday evening I was towing a friend’s car on the N1 highway shortly before the off ramp to the Golden Highway when the unexpected and unthinkable happened. I was shocked when I suddenly saw his car next to me on the right side instead behind me. We were on the far right when I swerved and hit the railing, skidded across 4 lanes down the embankment and landed in a ditch between two trees. The Lord miraculous kept me from hitting any of those trees. The last thing I remembered was hitting the railing and than all went black. I regained consciousness with blood running down my neck. The brakes of the Astra had failed and the tow rope must have snatched after I hit the railing. The driver of the car was fine though the car was badly damaged.
Soon the police was there, the ambulance and the tow trucks and some very kind and concerned by passers that stopped to call the ambulance. A couple of tow trucks and the ambulance I send off as I couldn’t afford their service. The ambulance wanted R1500 (US$200) to take me to the Johannesburg General Hospital though they did bandage me up for which I was grateful. So finally my son, my wife and a friend came to collect me and take me to the hospital for stitching of my large cut on the back of my head. My wife went with the recovery truck to drop the damaged vehicle at a parking lot opposite our home and she paid the man R2500.00 (US$340).
The Lord blessed me with a very sweet and considerate tow truck man that stuck with me although I first I didn’t agree to his service as I thought it was too expensive only to find out that others were charging much more. He was gathering twigs and rubbish to make a little fire to keep me warm as I started to get very cold and a bit dizzy from loss of blood. He stuck with me for more than two hours not expecting any pay or service and in the end it was his company that we hired to take the bakkie back. While waiting we talked about our work, our families and our faith. There are still lots of kind and considerate people around. Sometimes it takes some drastic circumstances to discover that.
The tow truck driver even offered me R20.000 (US$2670.00) for the bakkie as is. We will be working on
selling the vehicle as it seems to also have suffered structural damage and looks beyond repair. The front doors won’t open as they are pushed back & jammed. The bakkie is a Mitsubishi Colt 2800 TDI.
For the past 30 years since I started working for the Lord I haven’t had a car accident except for a couple scratches and I never had insurance only the ASSURANCE of our Lord that He would keep me and
provide for me. He’s never failed and I’m a life and well. Sometimes His assurance only covers us and not our material possessions. I don’t know where the money will come from to get another vehicle but we will start again, work hard and save again.
The devil is working hard to snuff out my life or slow me and our work here but the angels of the Lord are no match for him.
Please pray for a vehicle to borrow or for someone to help us with the collection of food and distribution of food once a week.
Thank you for your prayers. We know it is your prayers and support that keeps us going and makes our work possible and we know that with His help we will be again providing the needy with food, teach Bible classes and share the love and message of God with all those we meet.
